About
Michelle Retsky M.S. CCC-SLP
Hi, I’m Michelle, founder of Words in Motion Therapy.
I’m a licensed speech-language pathologist, educator, and creator of Articulation Adventures. I specialize in providing virtual speech and language support to children, teens, and adults, helping clients build confidence in communication through personalized therapy and creative, functional tools.
But I didn’t start here.
From Engineering to Expression
I actually began my college career studying engineering, searching for something that felt like a true calling. To support myself through school, I worked as an art teacher and a behavioral technician. While I enjoyed those roles, I started to notice a pattern: the most meaningful moments were always about connection - helping someone understand or be understood.
My mom was a special education teacher and later became an early intervention therapist, and I often shadowed her in classrooms/homes growing up. I realized I had been drawn to communication support my whole life, I just hadn’t named it yet. When I learned about speech-language pathology, something clicked. I completed my graduate school prerequisites, dove into psychology and communication sciences, and spent hundreds of hours observing therapy and working with children with disabilities. What began as curiosity quickly grew into a passion, and now a lifelong career!
Why Words in Motion
I started Words in Motion Therapy with one big goal: to make therapy more personal, flexible, and creative. Communication isn’t one-size-fits-all, and therapy shouldn't be either. Whether you’re a parent of a toddler working on first words, an adult client regaining speech after a medical event, or an SLP looking for fresh materials, I want this space to support you.
My sessions are rooted in evidence-based practice but also shaped by my background in art and behavior - meaning we mix science with creativity, fun, and flexibility.
